Shedding of the eyelashes is a normal part of the eyelash growth cycle. Sometimes, though, we can cause eyelash loss with the products that we use and how we use them. The following are three reasons you could be losing eyelashes:

1) Waterproof Mascara
Loreal Voluminous Mascara

If your waterproof mascara is a pain to remove and requires excessive rubbing and cleansing, you could be pulling your eyelashes out. You might want to consider switching formulas. There are many non-waterproof mascaras that can last throughout normal activities. Loreal Voluminous Mascara ($7.25) is a great everyday mascara that will give your lashes a boost of volume and stay on throughout the day. Try to save waterproof mascara for days you really need it, like a day at the pool or beach.

2) False Eyelashes

Rushing to remove your false eyelashes could lead to accidentally ripping out some of your real eyelashes. Use a good eye makeup remover, like Neutrogena's Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover ($5.11). Soak a cotton ball with the remover and apply it to your eyes where the glue is attached. Eventually the eyelash glue will begin to loosen and your false lashes should detach easily.

3) Eyelash Curler

Some users of eyelash curlers have reported that they have accidentally ripped out some of their eyelashes. This may have occurred because of a bad eyelash curler or an incorrect curling technique. A very popular curler known for its quality is Shu Uemura's Eyelash Curler ($19.00). Always curl your eyelashes before applying mascara. This will prevent your eyelashes from sticking to the pad and accidentally being pulled out. Also, it is recommended that the eyelash curler pads be changed once every three months.
